Growing up on a farm has embedded a natural desire for me to be outdoors. I have always been active and since my first swimming lesson at the age of five, I have continued to pursue a love for most sporting and outdoor activities.
After qualifying as a teacher in 1995, I have motivated and inspired children and adults alike, passing on my creativity and my passion to achieve the best I can. I went on to become a headteacher and it was during this time I recognised the importance of exercise in order to maintain a good work/life balance. This led me to running my first marathon across the Polar Ice Cap in Greenland. Coming 2nd, I discovered I had a talent for running.
Having totally 'caught the bug', I followed this up by successfully completing the 49 mile classic Swiss Alpine Ultra Marathon and have not stopped since. I still continue to progress my running and support my husband (Mike Gratton, former winner of the London Marathon ) in organising UK and international sporting events.
5 years ago, I combined my teaching skills and passion for fitness to become qualified in Personal Training, Many of my clients positively comment on the fact I used to teach children - space hoppers, hugging trees and creatively themed boot camps keep them young in body and mind.
